The open weave lets sufficient light and airflow beneath the netting for vegetation to thrive while retaining moisture.

This 550m roll length makes it ideal for large-scale erosion control and vegetation projects such as highway revegetation and large embankments. A single roll weighs around 336 kg and requires a considerable amount of labor and planning for the unrolling and positioning process.

Unroll the mesh and cut it into required lengths for easy handling.

For embankments, dig trenches on top of the embankment, bury the edge of the mesh, and fasten it with steel retaining pins.

For vegetation purposes, make sure you fill a thin layer of mulch then lay the mesh for best results.

What is the difference between jute mesh and jute matting?

Jute mesh is a loose, open-weave geotextile while jute matting is a tightly woven geotextile fabric. Unlike jute matting, they don’t offer weed-suppressing benefits due to their open weave structure.  

Can this jute mesh be used on compacted clay or hard soil?

Absolutely, but site preparation is key. Clear vegetation and rubble, level the subgrade, and moisten the soil slightly if compacted. This helps the mesh conform better to the ground and improves seed germination and root contact.

How many ground pins are recommended for a 55m roll?

For a 1.22m x 55m roll (approx. 67.1m²), you’ll typically need 130–160 steel pins, spaced at 500–750mm intervals. Additional pins are recommended for windy sites, sloped terrain, or areas with high water flow.

Can this mesh be installed without trenching on flat ground?

Yes. On level terrain, trenching isn’t required. Simply overlap the edges by 10–15 cm and pin them down securely.

Is this size roll manageable for a one-person installation?

No, the weight of the roll cannot be manageable by one person. We recommend at least 2-3 people for handling and moving to prevent mesh distortion. However, laying can be done by one person as the roll is cut into required lengths.
