Jute mesh, also known as Hessian fabric, is commonly used in revegetation products to hold soil and seedlings in place and prevent erosion. Unlike jute mats, jute mesh allows maximum sunlight to pass through the cover into the soil layer. These biodegradable netting decomposes in the soil, further supporting the germination process.
In terms of erosion control, they are more suitable for areas with low erosion control needs.

Jute Mesh Installation
Prepare the site by removing any rocks and debris which might damage the mesh.
Unroll the mesh and cut it into required lengths for easy handling.
For embankments, dig trenches on top of the embankment, bury the edge of the mesh, and fasten it with steel retaining pins.
For vegetation purposes, make sure you fill a thin layer of mulch, then lay the mesh for best results.
How Jute Mesh Rolls Work
Jute mesh rolls are placed directly over exposed soil, protecting against erosion from moderate rain and wind currents. Their loose weave allows the soil to access maximum air, water, and sunlight. making them ideal for supporting native plant regeneration while stabilising the soil.
These meshes work well with hydro mulching. This lightweight cover ensures that the mulch is in contact with the soil at all times while allowing sufficient sunlight into the cultivation.
However, the open weave design may also allow weed growth. You may require additional maintenance efforts for some projects.
