HEIGER’s Silt Fences are highly effective for erosion and sediment control for various types of projects. They are commonly used around construction perimeters and slopes with disturbed soils.
At HEIGER, we offer various sizes of silt fences to suit your needs.
Available Sizes & Specifications
- 85cm x 50m ( 100 GSM )
- 85cm x 100m( 100 GSM )
- 85cm x 500m( 100 GSM )
The 85cm x 500m roll is ideal for large-scale projects such as roadworks, subdivision developments, and infrastructure builds. It minimises the need for frequent joins and saves time during installation. The 85cm x 50m and 100m rolls are perfect for smaller to medium-sized job sites, including residential landscaping works.
Choose from our two colours of silt fence rolls. The high-visibility orange variant is designed to be easily seen and used to indicate areas that should not be entered.
These fences can be installed either using star picket posts or wooden pegs and tie wire.
How Silt Fences Work
The silt fence is installed facing its filter side towards the direction of water flow. The permeable weave traps the sediment from runoff water while letting clean water pass through. This method helps in preventing pooling and flooding.
When installed properly along the slope contour or site perimeter, they slow down surface water runoff. This allows sediment and silt to settle before the water continues its flow. Landscapers follow a method called the J-hook structure to get the best results here.

Key Applications
Construction Site Perimeter Control
Used around the boundary of construction sites to trap sediment and prevent runoff from polluting nearby areas. Also used to set zones for accidents and danger.
Roadworks and Excavation Sites
Controls erosion and captures displaced soil around roads, trenches, and excavation zones.
Slopes and Embankments
Placed at the base of slopes to filter sediment from water before it leaves the site.
Agriculture and Nursery Operations
Prevents soil washout near farms or garden beds during heavy rain.
Driveways and Entrances
Can be laid on loose soil and covered with gravel to act as a sub-base. Holds the soil in place and prevents it from shifting or washing away.

FAQs About Silt Fences
What is the difference between silt fences and coir logs?
Silt fences are ideal for flat or gently sloped areas where sediment runoff needs to be filtered and retained. Coir logs, on the other hand, are better for steeper slopes and waterways where physical barriers are needed to slow water velocity.
Why choose silt fences for longer coverage?
They’re quicker to install and cost-effective for covering long site perimeters.
What other erosion control products can I use along with a silt fence?
Silt fencing solutions are most effective when combined with other erosion control products and used as a system. The best matches are coir mesh and jute mesh, which can be used for surface coverage to minimise erosion, while fences can filter any excess runoff.
Are silt fences eco-friendly like coir products?
No, they are made from synthetic materials like polypropylene and UV stabilisers. Therefore, these can be reused and last longer.
